My Windows Fax and Scan stopped working on my Windows 7 computer. I was able to send a fax using Windows Fax and Scan about three weeks ago . I tried to send a fax today (ordinarly text fax using the fax program not scanner) and received an error message in the Review fax status window which reads: EVENT An unexpected probem occurred. In the Windows Fax and Scan window, it shows the attempted fax in the OUTBOX and under the heading 'Extended Status' it reads: Line unavailable.
I tested the phone jack with a telephone and I get a signal and can make calls. I tried attaching this computer to another working phone jack in another room and got the same error messages. I also tried sending a fax with my old XP computer using the MS Fax program on that machine (which also worked the last time I used it about two months ago) and I received the same error messages 'Unexpected problem and the Line unavailable.'
Any help with the problem with be greatly appreciated.

Comp 1 is Win7, all updates current, AV is MS Security Essentials.
Comp 2 is Winxp, updates current, AV is Norton AV.
Telco is AT&T uverse. (have already talked with tier 2 tech support at AT&T and they say it must be fax program problem because the phone lines check out OK.)
Edit: The modem for the Win7 comp. is a LSI PCI-SV92PP Soft Modem. Directx 9 graphics card comparison.
