Cons: I had to give 1 egg off because it's a little too light, it's great for bringing with you just not using it sometimes. I had a lot of CD's to rip and every time you open or close the drive it will slide across the desk. It's easy to overcome by just holding the top.

Overall Review: This is a handy little DVD writer. When I built my desktop I didn't want to designate an entire 5.25' bay to use on a sparsely used DVD burner. With this I just plug it in to a USB port when needed and then put it away. With DVDs 'on the way out', people are giving away old disks. With this I am able to burn all the disks I would ever need for data backup and creating media like bootable ISOs. I haven't had any issues with driver compatibility yet (Used on Windows 7, 10, MacOS and Linux). I would recommend this to anyone.
Pros: When it works it's fantastic.
Cons: Sometimes its stubborn and locks up when trying to burn a disc resulting in me having to restart my PC and use a different disc.
Overall Review: Its a nice solution for the dying cd drives that's for sure a lot of pc cases and laptops do not even come with them anymore
Pros: I really like this DVD/CD drive. I purchased it when the drive wend out in my iMac and it would have cost $250 to have it repaired. It worked like a charm, even after I dropped it from about waist high. It finally did have a somewhat violent death when the computer and it were separated unexpectedly (they were on separate surfaces--never a good idea) and the bottom aluminum plate was bent. I used it for years, and replaced it with another LG model that was about half as tall (and gold!). I really like LG's products in general. I really don't think you can beat it for the price.
It copies CDs as fast as the iMac did. I didn't do anything with the DVD writing, so I can't comment on that.
Cons: I didn't have any issues with this.
Overall Review: I bought another one after I killed this first one, and I am also buying one for my step-daughter in college.

Overall Review: Yes, I would highly recommend this product for anyone that needs an external CD/DVD Burner drive. I use this at work because my new setup no longer had an internal CD/DVD drive. Also, my laptop setup no longer came with an internal CD/DVD drive either. It's honestly a technology that seems to be slowly phasing out. I was concerned if this would work properly with Windows 10 but was delighted when I got the box and it had a Windows 10 compatible stamp on it. I saw complaints about other models by the same brand that wouldn't work with 10 for some reason. I'd recommend waiting for an advertisement for one of these as it seems to be frequently discounted.
Overall Review: Bought this for my parents, they had no trouble setting it up and getting it running on their own. Easy peasy!

Otherwise this device is FAST burns a 16x disk in under 5 minutes! Takes my Laptop allot longer; like an hour or more just to encode videos to dvd format & like I just wrote it burns a disk very very quickly! I don't hate making DVD's using this wonderful tool! It has been well worth the small expense! (No more 4x DVD HELL!!)
Also it's a powerful unit that 'NEEDS' to be Plugged into an ac outlet! unlike the description; which states that it needs (2) USB ports. This is false! The player needs ONE usb 2.0 port & an AC outlet, in fact it won't power up & be detected by the computer until it is plugged into the wall outlet. Also pulling the power cord is the only way to - power on/off this DVD unit.
In update to 2015 - Ran this product into the ground. Either the power adapter failed or the usb cable. Stuck it in the closet figuring I might get it to work again. I have! Hooked it to my new desktop. Took it out of the case and plugged it into my sata internal. It is Working once again!!! Like new. I am extra happy with this product. Using Xubuntu and it dose a fine recording job using Brasero to make data backups. I must have burned around 300+ Disks since I bought it. No joke! I have even mailed a few out, it still runs like a Trooper! So I am giving it 5 stars!
