When you're swamped with work or have a business deadline to meet, even small details like keyboard shortcuts can help you save time. All HP keyboards are configured for these shortcuts, and they're commonly referred to as HotKeys. These keys will help you open frequently used programs or perform actions with a simple keystroke. To enable and customize your keyboard's HotKeys, you'll need to install a corresponding driver.

Installing the Quick Launch Driver

Visit the HP Support & Driver page (link in Resources). Click the 'Drivers & Software' button.

Enter your keyboard's name or product number in the search field, and then click the 'Search' button. From the results that appear, click 'HP Quick Launch Buttons.'

Browse to the location where you wish to save the Quick Launch utility, and then allow the download to complete. Open the utility and follow each prompt window to install the driver.

Click the 'Finish' button on the last prompt window to complete the Quick Launch installation.

Enabling HotKeys

Navigate to your computer's desktop screen. Right-click and select 'New,' then 'Folder.' Name the folder 'HotKeys' and open it.

Click 'Start' and click 'Explore' to open a second Windows Explorer window. Browse to the location of the program you wish to designate a HotKey for.

• You may also set HotKeys for individual files and folders in addition to software programs. Simply send the desired file or folder to the desktop and repeat the steps to enable the HotKeys.
